(NOTE: THIS PIECE COMES WITH A FULL LOA FROM PSA/DNA. THE NORMA JEANE AUTOGRAPH HAS A FORMAL GRADE OF MINT 9!!)One of the rarest and most significant documents in the legendary life of the great Marilyn Monroe, offered here is a document signed “Norma Jeane Dougherty,” one page, 7.5” x 4.25”, dated March 8, 1946. A supplemental model release reading: “Received from Earl S. Moran the sum of Ten Dollars, in full payment for all services rendered by the undersigned today. In consideration for this payment, I also authorize Earl S. Moran, his personal representatives, assigns, customers, clients, etc., to use my photograph or any painting, print, etc., made thereof for advertising purposes, or for any other purposes of trade which Earl S. Moran or his assigns may see fit.” Beautifully signed at the conclusion in black ink, “Norma Jean Dougherty.” Monroe (born Norma Jeane Mortenson) took the married name of her husband James E. Dougherty in 1942. In 1944, Norma Jeane took a job at the Radio Plane Company, where she was soon discovered while posing for Army photographer David Conover, who saw that “something” in Norma Jeane’s images and urged her to apply to the Blue Book Modeling Agency, where she was signed to a modeling contract on March 6, 1946. It would not take long for Norma Jeane’s path to Hollywood immortality to come together. Just two days later, on March 8th, Earl Moran, one of the great pin-up artists of all time, hired young Norma Jeane from the Blue Book Agency to model for him, paying her $10 an hour. This hiring would represent not only Marilyn’s first hiring through the Blue Book Agency, but her first job ever as a model and/or actress! Over the next three years, Moran would continue to hire Marilyn on and off and was a fairly steady source of income for her. Furthermore, the images captured were undoubtedly some of Moran’s finest work and helped to solidify legendary status for both the artist and his subject alike. This Hollywood relic is housed in a gorgeous 38” x 40” custom framed display and features an assortment of images of Marilyn from her shoots with Moran as well as a vintage 4” x 6” color pin-up postcard signed by Moran himself. In superb condition and ready for immediate and prominent display! Accompanied by a Letter of Authenticity from PSA/DNA for the document, which gets a Mint 9 autograph grade, and a COA from James Spence Authentication (JSA) for the Moran signed card.
